Arknights Pity: The Accumulator That Carries Across Banners
The accumulator mechanics that make Arknights pity unique — and how to exploit the carryover. · Updated 2026-11-04
The One-Paragraph Answer
Arknights 6★ odds are 2% flat for 50 pulls, then climb +2% per pull — 4% on pull 51 — until pull 99 makes it certain. The signature twist: this ramp carries between banners and only resets on an actual 6★. Run your exact position through the pity calculator.
Why the Carryover Changes Strategy
In Genshin-style games, pity resets per banner type, so "wasted" pulls only build toward the next banner's pity. In Arknights there is no such thing as a wasted pull — 40 pulls on a filler banner put you at pull 41 of the ramp when the limited banner you actually want arrives, ten pulls from the +2% zone. Savvy players deliberately "pre-charge" pity on cheap standard banners before a limited event they intend to commit to.
The 50/50 and the Spark
On limited banners the first 6★ is a coin flip for the rate-up operator, and a miss guarantees the next 6★ is the featured one. Separately, 300 total pulls on a limited banner let you buy the operator outright with certificates — the true worst case. At 600 Orundum per pull that is 180,000 Orundum, which is why the spark is a budget anchor, not a plan: the calculator shows the expected case sits far below it.
Where the Numbers Come From
The 2%/+2%/carry rules are from the game's own headhunting disclosure and the community wiki; the 50/50-with-guarantee on limited banners and the 300-pull spark are current limited-banner rules (cross-checked when this page was written). Standard rate-up banners use a plain share model without the guarantee — check which banner type you are pulling before assuming the 50/50 applies.
